Professor Alfred Gatt, the father of biomechanics in Malta is a podiatrist specialising in Clinical Biomechanics – a branch of the profession that deals with walking and the forces acting on the foot during gait.

Abnormal foot motions and forces are likely to produce a huge number of foot pathologies, ranging from simple callosities to heel pain, ball of the foot pain and even ulceration in diabetes.

Professor Gatt has been leading and teaching Biomechanics courses for podiatrists for the past 30 years at the University of Malta - so he has vast experience in the technologies and treatments used in a wide variety of foot conditions
